PORT NECHES, Texas — Port Neches and Groves votes came together to pass a $75 million bond aimed to improve schools in both cities.
It passed with 1558 votes or 53.54% of the total votes.
District officials said most of the $75 million bond project will pay for upgrades at the high school, including new HVAC systems and new roofs.
The bond includes a new transportation center, renovations to the high school auditorium, and upgrades to the high school’s HVAC system.
“It is a unique situation where we could raise the funds to do these awesome projects and not raise taxes,” said Dr. Scott Ryan, Port Neches-Groves High School principal.
Athletics upgrades are also included in the bond. Head football coach Jeff Joseph said one project would serve the entire school.
