Newcomer Jennifer Horn-Frasier and incumbents Ruthina Malone and Jayne Finch were victorious in the five-person race for the Iowa City Community School Board.

The local election arrives after the school board voted to greenlight a $104.6 million five-year facility master plan amid changes to public education in Iowa. The district faces declining enrollment numbers and state policies banning the use of cellphones in the classroom and Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) . A law is also tied up in court that bans books describing sex acts from schools.
