Matt Sillanpaa and Dennis Lyman have been elected to serve on the Bondurant City Council.
Sillanpaa, an incumbent, won roughly 36% of the votes, while Lyman, a newcomer to the race, received 34%, according to unofficial results. Challenger Chris Johnsen received about 29% of the votes.
Lyman, who chairs the Bondurant Parks and Recreation Board, said in a Des Moines Register candidate survey that he ran for a seat on the council because Bondurant is a "special place" and wants it to remain affordable and welcoming to future generations.
"I will apply my leadership experience and heart for the community as a member of Bondurant’s City Council," he said in the survey.
Sillanpaa, who is a Bondurant business owner and resident, did not respond to the Register's candidate questionnaire.
