Voters signed off on the West Des Moines Community School District's $135 million bond issue that will fund widespread improvements to classrooms and other school facilities in the Nov. 4 election.
The bond issue passed with 69% of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Iowa Secretary of State's Office, exceeding the supermajority 60% vote threshold bond votes need to pass for local governments and school districts in Iowa.
The West Des Moines school board approved the bond resolution on Aug. 25. There are no timelines yet available for construction.
The school district encompasses West Des Moines and parts of Clive, Urbandale and Windsor Heights.
Superintendent Matt Adams said at an Oct. 20 information session that it had been more than 20 years since the district
