BLOOMINGTON, Ind. —
Ohio State is in the top spot, followed by Indiana in the first College Football Playoff rankings.
ESPN released the rankings Tuesday night.
The 8-0 Buckeyes and 9-0 Hoosiers do not face each other in the regular season, but could meet in the Big Ten Championship game on Dec. 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
A rule change this season gives the top four teams first-round byes in the 12-team tournament, regardless of conference affiliation.
Texas A&M is ranked third, followed by Alabama and Georgia.
Louisville is ranked No. 15 in the initial rankings, one spot behind Virginia.
