SEATTLE — With a near 20-point margin in toe, Dionne Foster defeated incumbent Sara Nelson for city council Position 9, KING 5 News projected Tuesday evening.

“Tonight’s results are an incredible affirmation that Seattle voters are committed to a city we have been fighting for since day one — one that’s healthy, affordable, and focused on the needs of everyday Seattleites,” said Foster in a prepared statement. “This is just the beginning of bringing people together to achieve big things. Now on to the city council, where I will continue showing up, collaborating with community, and delivering for working people.”

Nelson said Tuesday night she was feeling "disappointed," but she feels like Seattle is in "a better place going forward."
