Four of the seven seats on the Seattle School Board were up for grabs in Tuesday’s election.

New directors will join the board at a critical juncture for the state’s largest school district. Seattle Public Schools’ new superintendent is expected to be named Wednesday, a new strategic plan is in the works and an $87 million budget deficit must be addressed.

The future of the district’s “highly capable” advanced learning program remains uncertain, and often heated communitywide conversations about the best way to increase safety in schools will continue.
