YORK, Maine — Residents voted Tuesday, Nov. 4, to amend the town’s affordable and elderly housing ordinances and to update beach rules by expanding the surf zone and banning drinking games such as beer pong.
Voters approved six articles during the town’s second annual referendum, typically held in November to address ordinance changes.
Among the approved changes were revisions to the Beach Ordinance , including a ban on beer pong and similar alcohol-related games— even when alcohol isn’t present. The amendment also expanded the designated surf zone at Long Sands Beach and gave the town authority to regulate the types of tents permitted on the beach.
