MONTROSE TWP, MI -- A ballot proposal to renew a millage supporting police department found favor with voters in the northern Genesee County community on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The renewal proposal on the ballot garnered 409 yes votes (58.18%) to 294 no votes (41.82%), according to unofficial results from the Genesee County Clerk’s Office.
The tax levied on real and personal property, according to the ballot proposal’s language , is expected to raise approximately $512,918 annually and will support the department from 2027 through 2031.
Montrose Township Police Chief Jamie Cochran previously urged voters to “support your police department” and vote in favor of the proposal.
