With three candidates up for the Kannapolis mayorship, Doug Wilson emerged the winner with 2,671 ballots cast for him over Rowan and Cabarrus county voters. That was more than 1,000 votes greater than Wilson has ever received in previous runs for city council elections.
“It’s great. I think that the Kannapolis people stepped up and spoke out today,” Wilson said.
Doug Wilson has served on the Kannapolis City Council for over 12 years, including as mayor pro tem. Wilson was endorsed by many members of the Kannapolis community, from fellow city council member Ryan Dayvault to former council member and Kannapolis Police Lieutenant Randy Cauthen
