Voters across California got to weigh in on the fate of Proposition 50 , legislation that will help determine which political party controls the U.S. House for the final two years of President Donald Trump's term.

Redding and other Shasta County communities in the historically Republican North State could see major changes now that it appears exit polls show voters have approved the high-stakes proposition.

Early results released Tuesday evening showed strong support for the proposal across California, where Proposition 50 was leading with a 64.6% yes vote just before 9 p.m.

Across the North State, unofficial results showed voters were not in support of Proposition 50, with 66.45% of Shasta County voters casting no votes.

In Siskiyou County, 59.3% of voters had cast no votes, while
