HISTORIC TRIANGLE — The area’s legislative delegation will have a new look in 2026 when the new legislative session begins in January.
Republican Del. Chad Green, representing the 68th District, was defeated by Democrat Mark C. Downey, while fellow Republican Del. Amanda Batten was defeated by Jessica Anderson in a rematch in the 71st District, according to unofficial results.
Incumbent Republican Keith Hodges held on to the 69th District seat, while Democrat Virgil Thornton Sr. defeated incumbent Republican Del. A.C. Cordoza in the 86th District.
Democrats increased their majority in the Virginia House of Delegates from 51 to 64 seats, with one race still undecided as of 11 p.m., according to the Virginia Mercury .
