One year before Maryland’s 2026 gubernatorial election, a new poll finds Democratic Gov. Wes Moore defeating a Republican opponent by 20 points, with less than a quarter of voters polled either undecided or saying they would consider another candidate.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Institute of Politics poll of 757 registered voters gives Moore 49%, Republican candidates 29%, with 12% saying they would choose “some other candidate” and 10% undecided.
“We did not name the Republican candidate because there is nobody right now that is officially in the race,” institute director and pollster Mileah Kromer said.
Former Gov. Larry Hogan has hinted on social media that he might run. Senate Minority Leader Steve Hershey has talked about a possible run. Kromer believes if Hogan
