LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The two candidates for the special election being held to replace ex-SC Rep. RJ May have been set.

Following a runoff election held on Tuesday, John Lastinger will be the Republican candidate for the House District 88 Special Election.

Lastinger beat fellow Republican Brian Duncan by 127 votes, getting 1,370 votes to Duncan’s 1,243.

Lastinger has been a pastor for almost 50 years and told WIS in an interview that his desire to run for House District 88 was fueled by his faith.

He has said his priorities if he gets elected will be to focus on the district’s infrastructure, growth and the removal of some literature from state classrooms.
