The village of Shadyside will welcome Mike Meintel as its new mayor following his victory Tuesday night in the village’s elections.

The current council member defeated former council member Nick Ferrelli with 676 votes for Meintel against 253 for Ferrelli.

Meintel is a former warden of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Correctional Reception Center and a U.S. Army Reserves veteran. He thanked the residents who voted for him in this election.

“It will be my privilege serving the residents of Shadyside. You also elected six highly qualified council members that I will work alongside to make Shadyside a community that we all can be proud of,” Meintel said.
