MANCHESTER, N.H. —
A cargo plane crash near an airport in Louisville, Kentucky, shortly after takeoff is raising nationwide questions about how airports handle emergencies.
In New Hampshire, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport serves as a hub for air cargo carriers like UPS, FedEx, and Amazon.
According to the airport, it has processed more than 200 million pounds of cargo annually for the past five years, more than any other regional airport in New England.
Former Massport Director Tom Kinton said airports like Manchester have special safety protocols for cargo planes, especially when hazardous materials are on board.
