Former State Sen. Dr. Richard Pan announced his campaign for California’s redrawn 6th Congressional District after the passage of Proposition 50. The Democrat and Sacramento-based physician previously planned to run in the 3rd District against Republican Kevin Kiley but shifted after new district lines were approved. The 6th District, now covering areas from north Sacramento to Roseville and Rocklin, is currently held by Rep. Ami Bera, who will challenge Kiley in the new 3rd District. Pan said he’s running to protect families and expand access to health care, citing his record on reducing California’s uninsured rate and improving child health coverage.
