TUCSON Ariz. - (KVOA) Voters in the Tucson Unified School District passed a budget override for the first time in more than 25 years.
Voters rewarded TUSD with tens of millions of dollars more a year in funding as Proposition 414 won decisively at the ballot box.
'YES' had a 56-44 lead Tuesday night, garnering 39,764 votes. The 'NO' side got 31,178 votes. Property taxes will go now go up for TUSD homeowners, on average $17 a month.
The school district is home to 40,000 students. The school board, district leaders and teachers say this will help the district become more competitive.
