The New Democratic-Backed Maps Could Potentially Shift up to Five Congressional Seats Ahead of the 2026 Elections

California voters on Tuesday approved Proposition 50, a ballot measure that suspends the state’s existing congressional maps drawn by an independent redistricting commission and replaces them with new districts created by the Democratic-controlled Legislature.

As of 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the vote tallies were 73.74% Yes and 26.26% No.
