Edwin Barahone and Isaac Vargas notched first-half goals as Waldwick defeated Mountain Lakes, 2-1, in their first-round, NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1 Group 1 playoff in Waldwick.

The Warriors will host seventh-seeded Pequannock in a sectional quarterfinal. Pequannock defeated Midland Park, 1-0, in a first-round game.

Vargas’ goal was the 13th of his senior season. He leads the Warriors in that category. Barahona, a junior, has put in five this year.

It was the end of a five-game unbeaten streak for the Lakers (8-8-2). Their 4-0-1 stretch included a scoreless tie with third-seeded Pompton Lakes.
