Just after being released on bail, police in Lilongwe re-arrested eleven men believed to be members of the Zikwanje gang, who had appeared in court on five charges related to the violence that occurred in May this year in Mponela, Dowa.
After completing bail procedures, the court set November 21 as the date to continue hearing the case.
However, moments after the ruling, police moved in and re-arrested the suspects.
The sudden move angered both the accused and their relatives who had come to attend the proceedings.
Government authorities said the same individuals, and others connected to the case, are also facing additional charges.
These include allegations of involvement in violence in Mbowe, Lilongwe, inflating vehicle tyres at the Parliament Building, and injuring government emplo
