Winds have been front and center since Halloween. Thus far, the storms that have been creating our strong wind have been pretty far away. The Halloween storm intensified in eastern Nova Scotia. Yesterday's storm was in Newfoundland. Tonight's storm, however, will be much closer - the Gulf of Maine off Gloucester. That means our winds will be stronger and will come up suddenly as the storm undergoes what we know as bombogenesis, or a rapid pressure drop over the course of a few hours.

There are high wind warnings, watches and advisories in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday.

Thankfully, the storm will move away swiftly, so the wind should steadily ease by Thursday afternoon. But in the late night hours
