GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) -- Volunteers will make thousands of sandwiches Wednesday morning for hungry neighbors in need in Greenville for the 4th Annual National Sandwich Day.

Feed and Seed and Visit Greenville SC are joining forces this year, as volunteers will be at Judson Mill making 8000 pimento cheese sandwiches. This originally started to honor Eugenia Dukes, founder of Dukes Mayonnaise.

The sandwiches will be donated to local food banks, schools and shelters to feed hungry community members in need.

Many sandwiches will be distributed by Loaves and Fishes

This year, organizers are also hosting a food drive as thousands of people in the community lose their SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown.
