(WSPA) - The South Carolina Supreme Court ruled against a man convicted of killing his wife in the parking lot of the Inman Police Department.

In a lengthy ruling issued Wednesday, the court upheld the results of a lower court which refused to reconsider the death sentence of Marion Alexander Lindsey.

The case was the latest in a series of appeals dating back to 2007 regarding Lindsey's sentence.

According to court records, on September 18, 2002, Lindsey shot and killed his wife, Ruby Nell Lindsey, while she sat in the back seat of her friend's car in the parking lot of the Inman Police Department.

Lindsey then shot himself in the head, but survived his injuries.
