POUGHKEEPSIE – Democrats in Dutchess County were the big winners Tuesday night, including keeping the comptroller seat, defeating an incumbent Republican county court judge, and flipping the county legislature from red to blue.
Incumbent Democratic Comptroller Dan Aymar-Blair received 40,358 votes to fend off a challenge from Legislature Chairman Will Truitt, who received 32,997 votes. Dutchess County Family Court Judge Tracy MacKenzie ran unopposed on the Republican line and will continue to serve on the bench.
“I’m going to keep increasing efforts to improve transparency and accessibility from the office and keep moving in that direction. “The Comptroller’s office works for the people so we’re going to put the people in the center of that,” said Aymar-Blair.
