In Tuesday’s elections, Clayton County votes approved to extend the county’s special purpose local option sales tax and an additional homestead exemption for disabled veterans, unremarried surviving spouses of peace officers or firefighters killed in the line of duty, senior citizens over 65 and the 100% disabled will be eligible for an additional homestead exemption on their county property taxes.

The homestead exemption passed 33,703 (93.5%) to 2,345 (6.5%

Local voters approved the SPLOST 20,520 (57.14%) to 5,393 (42.86%).
