Star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and pacer Akash Deep are back in India’s Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against South Africa. The 28-year-old Pant, who was appointed as the vice-captain of the Test team on May 24, 2025, missed the two-match Test series at home against the West Indies last month due to a foot injury that he suffered on Day 1 of the fourth India-England Test played at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23 to 27.
Pant proved his fitness by playing in the four-day unofficial Test for India A against South Africa A last week, and he will play one more match from Thursday (November 6).
Pant replaced Narayan Jagadeesan in India’s Test squad for the home series against the Temba Bavuma-led side.
