DENVER (KDVR) — Flags across the nation were lowered to half-staff on Tuesday to honor the life of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who died Monday at the age of 84.

Gov. Jared Polis announced Monday afternoon that Colorado flags will be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day the dignitary is interred, which is in line with U.S. flag code. As of Tuesday, the plans for the former vice president's funeral had not been shared, so it's unclear when flags will return to full staff.

Richard B. Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States. His family announced Tuesday morning that the vice president had died overnight and was survived by his wife, daughters and other family members.
