The Hamblen County Air Force JROTC Program students recently got to taste going into the wild blue yonder.

Students from both Morristown East and Morristown West high schools make up the joint JROTC program and were treated to various activities by the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1494, led by President Karen Hughes-Collins.

AFJROTC Instructor Jim Thigpen said that 24 cadets took part in the training.

“This is an opportunity for our cadets to get some real-world flying experience,” he said. “They learned how aircraft operate as far as taking off, maintaining their speed in flight and landing. We are very, very fortunate to have had multiple aircrafts and pilots.
