House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) defended President Donald Trump for hosting a Halloween party just hours before millions of Americans lost their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits last week.
Multiple news outlets reported that the Friday night gathering at Mar-a-Lago was themed “A little party never killed nobody” as millions of Americans faced the expiration of their SNAP benefits the following day. On Tuesday, Johnson was asked to comment on the Trump administration’s decision to only partially fund SNAP as the president hosted the lavish party.
“What about the split screen about the fact that the Trump administration is administering only part of the SNAP program while President Trump is having a ‘Great Gatsby’ party at Mar-a-Lago?” the reporter asked
