The federal government will help fund a major residential highrise project in downtown Hamilton that will incorporate a new YMCA building with plans for 600-plus co-operative rental units.
Collecdev Markee has forged a partnership with the local YMCA, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and Markland Property Management to redevelop the block between Main, James and Jackson streets.
“This is a really unique collaboration and it has also from my perspective been a labour of love,” Jennifer Keesmaat, president and CEO of Collecdev Markee, told The Spectator.
Under the proposal, two highrise towers and a new YMCA with its entrance at Main would fill in a Markland parking lot between the Gowling WLG building and BDC office tower, which the local property manager also owns.
