Brits have revealed the top cultural visionaries who predicted the world we live in today. From George Orwell to David Bowie, a Samsung study of 2,000 people asked Brits to identify the cultural figures — from TV, music, film, and beyond — who most accurately predicted the technological and societal shifts that define modern life.

Orwell – the author of 1984 who said that the world we live in isn’t always black and white, but more about who’s telling the story – tops the list, with sitcom The Simpsons and its visionary outlook meaning it sits in second.

And it’s pop icon Bowie in third, who said the internet would ‘change society beyond all recognition’ in the ‘90s.
