An inquest has been opened into the sudden death of a five-year-old girl who died at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on September 27 last year.
The hearing at Swansea's Guildhall will examine whether earlier treatment could have been given to Aria Rose George for a medical condition that her family was unaware of until she became unwell.
Aria, who had no known medical conditions, fell ill during the week beginning September 23, 2024. She was taken to her GP and later to Neath Port Talbot Hospital, where she received treatment and medication before returning home.
Sadly, Aria's condition did not improve, the inquest heard. Her parents took her back to the hospital, where she was transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for a CT scan. Doctors discovered she
