Police have launched a manhunt for a 35-year-old man who was mistakenly released from HMP Wandsworth on Monday.
William Smith, who goes by Billy, was sentenced to 45 months for multiple fraud offences at Croydon Crown Court on Monday, appearing via live video link from HMP Wandsworth. Surrey Police are carrying out urgent enquiries to locate him. He is described as white, bald and clean-shaven.
Smith was last seen wearing a navy long-sleeve jumper with a white Nike logo, navy blue tracksuit bottoms with a white Nike logo on the left pocket and black trainers. He has links to Woking but could be anywhere in Surrey, the force said.
