Edna Karr quarterback John Johnson may have other college opportunities coming his way.
A third-year starter on a reigning state championship football team, Johnson said Wednesday that he no longer would be committed to play in college at Liberty University.
Johnson initially committed to Liberty in February, less than two months after he amassed 358 yards in total offense and had a hand in five touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) in Karr’s 53-8 thrashing of Alexandria in the state title game.
The decommitment came roughly a month before the early signing period that runs from Dec. 3-5.
“This wasn’t an easy decision,” Johnson wrote in a social media post, “but I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
Up next for Johnson is the chance to complete a second consecutive undefeated regular seaso
