CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Southern Illinois University Carbondale will host its annual Empty Bowls event on Saturday, November 8.

The event will show off the handiwork of ceramics students faculty, as well as help those in need.

More than 175-200 handcrafted ceramic bowls are for sale for $15 to $25 each.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or for as long as the bowls last, you can stop by the Neighborhood Co-op Grocery in the Murdale Shopping Center, 1815 W. Main St. to buy a bowl.

Organizers say the bowl can then be filled with a ladle of soup donated by Neighborhood Co-op.

According to Pattie Chalmers, a professor and head of the ceramics program, proceeds from the event got to area charities.

Chalmers started the Empty Bowls program at SIUC in 2014.
