NEW YORK (PIX11) — Following Zohran Mamdani's historic victory in the New York City mayoral election on Tuesday, the 34-year-old mayor-elect announced his transition team on Wednesday morning with some familiar faces on it.

Mamdani's transition team includes multiple former deputy mayors from both Mayor Eric Adams and former Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Elana Leopold, who will lead the team, worked under de Balsio. Former Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Melanie Hartzog will also be on the team. One name that may sound more familiar to New Yorkers is former Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer.
