CHERRY GROVE, W.Va. (WBOY) - Fire conditions remained extremely dangerous in parts of West Virginia Wednesday as emergency crews from several states worked at the scene of a fire in the Monongahela National Forest.
According to the Pendleton County Office of Emergency Management, numerous fire departments from Pendleton and Pocahontas counties, as well as Highland County, Va., and Forest Service crews are at the scene of a wildfire in southwest Pendleton County, as of early Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said that the fire is mostly on Monongahela National Forest land near Cherry Grove and is on "extremely steep mountain terrain." Details are limited, but the Pendleton County Office of Emergency Management said that extreme winds are making battling the fire more difficult.
