INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD has arrested a person in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager at an east Indianapolis gas station in July.

Just after 6 p.m. on July 11, officers were called to the 3000 block of North Mitthoefer Road , near East 30th Street and North Post Road, on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found 16-year-old Rodney Ward Jr. lying in a parking lot with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives assumed control of the investigation. Police say through various investigative efforts and help from the community, detectives identified a suspect in the case. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office granted an arrest warrant for Michael Jones.
