GREENSBORO, N.C. — The official NC Medical Examiner report was released regarding the death of Greensboro police officer Michael Horan on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Officer Horan was killed while attempting to stop a man with a gun in a Food Lion on Lawndale Drive on Monday, Dec. 23 2024.

Horan was last confirmed alive at 10:47 a.m., according to dispatch records.

Guilford County EMS responded to the scene and attempted CPR on Horan before he was pronounced death at 11:08 a.m.

According to the Chief Medical Examiner, SBI investigators found five caliber rounds that came from a Glock 27 in .40 caliber.

The report said Horan was shot by the suspect multiple times and ruled the death a homicide.

Tarell Isaac McMillian, 34, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and was denied bond.
