GREENSBORO, N.C. — An autopsy released Wednesday confirmed Greensboro Police Officer Michael Horan died from multiple gunshot wounds after he was shot inside a Food Lion on Dec. 23, 2024 .
Horan, who was 44, was the first officer to respond to a call about a man with a firearm at the Food Lion on Lawndale Drive that day. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said in the autopsy that Horan made contact with the suspect, and "during a pat down of another individual, a struggle ensued and the other individual shot (Horan) multiple times."
