The Detroit area could see its first round of snow later this week.
In Detroit , rain is expected to start Thursday night and continue into the weekend, mixing with snow starting Sunday, Nov. 9. Snow showers also are forecast for Monday, Nov. 10, according to the National Weather Service seven-day forecast.
Snow is expected statewide this weekend, with northern Michigan and the UP forecast to see snow starting on Friday, Nov. 7.
In Marquette, the NWS forecasts possible weak lake-effect rain and snow in the eastern Upper Peninsula Wednesday, Nov. 5. Some areas in the UP could accumulate up to an inch.
To remind residents of winter driving hazards, the Michigan State Police posted a video on X demonstrating how to recover from skidding on a slippery road.
