Police are investigating a workplace shooting in Almont that led to a deputy-involved shooting of the suspect on Wednesday morning, Nov. 5.

At about 8:30 a.m., a 32-year-old man from Columbus, Michigan, entered a business in Almont and was involved in a workplace shooting, Michigan State Police Third District Public Information Officer Lt. Kim Vetter said in a news conference livestreamed by WXYZ on Thursday afternoon .

One individual was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition as of Wednesday morning, according to a release by Almont Police Department posted on Facebook .

Vetter said the suspect fled the scene, and responding officers issued an alert to area law enforcement about the vehicle identification and suspect.
