It didn’t take long for President Donald Trump and Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani to get into it, the Independent reported.

After sweeping to election on Tuesday, the city’s new democratic socialist mayor taunted Trump in his victory speech, saying, “If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.”

Mamdani said, “And if there is any way to terrify a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power. So Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up.”

Trump, a Queens native, responded with a four-word dig of his own, writing on Truth Social: “…AND SO IT BEGINS.”
