CLEVELAND, Ohio — Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has shaken up his coaching staff by demoting Pat Shurmur from his role as co-offensive coordinator as the team struggles through a disappointing 3-6 season.
According to a USA Today report, Shurmur, who has twice served as an NFL head coach, including a stint with the Cleveland Browns, will now work as the quarterbacks coach.
The change reportedly came after Colorado suffered a crushing 53-7 defeat to Utah on Oct. 25.
Brett Bartolone, who had been serving as the team’s tight ends coach and passing game coordinator, has taken over play-calling duties. His first game in the new role saw the Buffaloes fall to Arizona 52-17.
Sanders addressed the staff changes indirectly during a Tuesday press conference.
