RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Fresh off a statewide victory, Virginia Democrats, including incoming Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi, are celebrating.

Hashmi, sitting down with 12 On Your Side, to talk about why the party did as well as it did on election night.

“I’m wondering if they actually talked to the same Virginians that I was speaking to for over 20 months on the campaign trail,” said Ghazala Hashmi, (D) lieutenant governor-elect.

Democrats flipped the governor’s mansion along with the lieutenant governor and attorney general spots.

Abigail Spanberger is now Governor-elect, taking 57% of the vote.
