In a dominating blue sweep, Democrats won key races in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia this week. Zohran Mamdani won the mayoral race in New York City, making him the youngest and the first Muslim mayor-elect in the city's history. Mikie Sherrill became the second woman to win a gubernatorial race ever in New Jersey. Abigail Spanberger is now the first woman to be elected governor of Virginia. And California Gov. Gavin Newsom celebrated the passage of Proposition 50, the redistricting issue on the state ballot, which is poised to provide Democrats with five additional U.S. House seats in 2026.
