The dog which killed a nine-month-old baby in Wales on Sunday was an XL Bully, police have now confirmed.

A nine-month old baby boy was tragically pronounced dead after being attacked by a family dog in Rogiet, south-east Wales, on Sunday, November 2. Officers and paramedics rushed to the residential property after reports were made at around 6pm.

After the incident, Gwent Police confirmed that the dog was seized and 'put down', and now the breed of the dog has been confirmed as an XL Bully, according to the latest police update.

The six-year-old dog had been registered with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) before the ban on the breed came into effect, the force said.
