Like millions of Americans, retired Annapolitan Romonia Johnson hasn’t received her Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits this month.

Living on a fixed income and raising a 12-year-old great-granddaughter, the absence of SNAP benefits puts Johnson in a tough place.

“After you pay your bills, you don’t have any extra money,” she said.

Although rulings Friday from two federal judges stopped the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s plans to pause SNAP funding as the federal government shutdown continues, November SNAP payments have been delayed for millions across the country, including locals.
