A transit lobby group is calling on the STM and its union to “show more seriousness” in settling a labour conflict that has left Montrealers stranded for a third time in six months.

“We don’t understand why they’re not sitting down every day,” said Philippe Jacques, the co-director general of Trajectoire Québec. “If they can’t do that, then they should at least go to arbitration, which the union has so far rejected. There is a lack of seriousness and a lack of will to settle this conflict.”

Wednesday marked the fifth day of pressure tactics by the STM’s maintenance union that forced the interruption of bus and métro service outside peak periods.
